Family Memories is a private, password-protected family history and family archive service available at family-memories.ca. The service allows selected family administrators to create and update family trees, add family member profiles, and upload family-related information and media for authorized family members and invited users to view.
This Privacy Policy explains how 1001591083 Ontario Inc. collects, uses, stores, protects, and discloses personal information when you use Family Memories.

2. Information We Collect
Depending on how the service is used, we may collect and store the following types of information:
- Account information: name, email address, username, password credentials, account role, login history, and account settings.
- Family profile information: names, birth dates, death dates, marriage dates, separation dates, spouse relationships, children, parents, family relationships, cities or places of birth, biographies, and other family history details.
- Uploaded content: photos, videos, audio recordings, stories, memories, messages, letters, recipes, prayers, blessings, songs, poems, family event details, reunion information, historical information, family records, newspaper clippings, and other documents.
- Administrative information: family website name, custom domain settings, subscription status, billing status, storage usage, and administrator actions.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, date and time of access, cookies, and security logs.
- Payment information: payment status and transaction records. Full card details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored directly by Family Memories unless otherwise stated.
3. Information About Living People and Children
Family Memories may contain information about living people, including children. Selected family administrators are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate permission, consent, or a reasonable family-related basis before adding, updating, or sharing information about living individuals.
We recommend that users avoid posting sensitive details about living people unless necessary and authorized. Sensitive details may include full birth dates, addresses, private family disputes, adoption information, medical information, financial information, government identification numbers, or information about minors.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Family Memories service.
- Create and display private family trees, family member profiles, and family event pages.
- Store, organize, resize, process, and display uploaded family content.
- Manage accounts, invitations, passwords, permissions, subscriptions, billing, and support.
- Send account-related messages, renewal notices, security notices, and service updates.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, misuse, unauthorized access, technical problems, and legal issues.
- Improve the service, troubleshoot issues, and understand general usage.
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, and security obligations.
5. Consent
By creating an account, using the service, administering a family website, uploading content as an authorized administrator, or inviting others to a family website, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.
If you are a selected administrator and add information about another living person, you represent that you have the right, permission, consent, or appropriate authority to add and share that information within the private family website.
6. Password-Protected Family Websites
Each family website is intended to be password-protected and accessible only to authorized users. Selected family administrators control who is invited and what permissions are granted. Administrators should only invite trusted family members or authorized individuals.
Password protection reduces public access, but it does not guarantee complete privacy. Users should not upload information they are not comfortable sharing with the authorized members of their family website.
7. Administrator Content and Family Administrator Control
Only selected family administrators may be able to add, edit, remove, approve, or restrict access to family profiles and uploaded content. General invited family members may be limited to viewing and searching unless an administrator grants additional permissions. Family Memories does not routinely verify the accuracy, legality, ownership, or completeness of administrator-submitted family information.

8. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information only in limited circumstances, including:
- With authorized users of the relevant private family website, according to that website's permissions set by selected administrators.
- With service providers who help us host, store, process payments, send emails, provide support, secure the service, or analyze usage.
- With domain registrars or DNS providers when custom domain services are requested.
- When required by law, court order, subpoena, regulatory request, or to protect legal rights, safety, and security.
- In connection with a business transfer, merger, sale, financing, or restructuring, subject to appropriate safeguards.
9. Service Providers
We may use third-party service providers for hosting, file storage, backups, payment processing, email delivery, analytics, domain registration, security monitoring, and technical support. These providers may process information on our behalf only as needed to provide their services.
Some providers may store or process information outside Canada. Where this occurs, information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
10. Cookies and Analytics

If a subscription is cancelled, the family website may remain available until the end of the paid billing period. After cancellation or non-payment, we may retain data for a limited grace period of 30 days before deletion, unless a longer period is required by law or for backup, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.
12. Access, Correction, and Deletion Requests
You may request access to personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, or request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal, security, backup, and technical limitations.

13. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including password protection, access controls, secure connections, backups, and other security measures appropriate to the nature of the information.
However, no website, server, database, internet transmission, or storage system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Breach Notification
If we become aware of a privacy or security breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will take appropriate steps, which may include notifying affected individuals, reporting to applicable authorities, and keeping required records, as required by Canadian privacy law.
15. Commercial Emails
We may send transactional messages such as account notices, password resets, invitation emails, billing reminders, renewal notices, security alerts, and service updates. If we send marketing or promotional emails, we will provide identification information and an unsubscribe mechanism where required.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
